The Environmental Portrait

As the term implies "environmental portrait "is most often executed within the confides of the subjects
comfort zone, helping to illuminate character , familiarity, some defining elements of the subjects interest and or essence of personality.

The surroundings are the key elements to environment portraits and depth of field plays an integral
part to the rendering of the image and the information conveyed.  Hence, adequate apertures and depth
of fields are commonly used in this type of photography.

The background itself need not be dominate the overall image.  In fact it can be subtle yet still significant. The success of the photograph lies on the expressed symbols and elements of the background that lends itself to the complete storytelling photograph.

This photograph is of a hike taken high above the city limits amongst  rural abandon structures.
