Seeing Red

Within the Chinese culture the color red holds significant meaning,  especially in weddings.
It symbolizes good fortune,  joy and happiness. It is the chosen color for weddings,  promising fertility, passion and success.

The fashion world has always loved red for its sex appeal. Contrarily, the red ribbon was worn on many lapels at the height of the aids crises to mourn the lost of many fashion greats, yet in China red is never worn at funerals.

KodaChrome, that wonderful 35 mm transparency slide film that rendered beautiful reds and only recently is no longer available for processing will be forever missed. I'm reminded whenever I hear the song by Paul Simon, "Mama don't take my KodaChrome away".
